Kevin has over 25 years of experience in dispute resolution and his practice focuses on commercial disputes, which includes litigation, arbitration and mediation. He regularly acts as counsel in arbitrations under SIAC and ICC regimes as well as ad hoc arbitrations. He also takes on appointments as arbitrator, both as sole arbitrator or as part of a panel.
Kevin is a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators as well as an Accredited Mediator with the Singapore Mediation Centre and a Senior Mediator with the Law Society Mediation Scheme.
Robson has more than 28 years’ experience advising client on a range of licensing, securities, banking, insurance, trustee duties and financial market regulatory compliance, SGX listing compliance, corporate governance, and regulatory investigations. He also represents Singapore public companies on cross-border M&A and foreign joint venture investments, and advises local and foreign companies in their funds raising and market flotations.
Robson received his LL.B. (Hons, 2nd Class Upper) from the National University of Singapore in 1993. He is an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore and a Solicitor in England and Wales.
Hui Ying’s practice sees her predominantly handle motor, public liability and professional liability claims, with an emphasis in recent years on motor insurance fraud and causation cases involving whiplash claims in low-speed collisions. She has successfully defended and contested many of these claims in the State Courts.
Her extensive experience in disputes work means that her advice is frequently sought by clients for policy construction and drafting issues. She has also advised the General Insurance Association on the Insurance Amendment Bill, which came into force on 1 September 2009.
Joyce specialises in motor and general insurance, which extends to subrogation recovery, work injury, occupier’s liability, public liability, and fire and water damage claims. Joyce graduated from Durham University in 2013. Upon her return to Singapore, she completed the Singapore Bar Admission Course with distinctions and was admitted to the Singapore Bar in 2015.
Charlene practises commercial litigation with a focus on shipping, logistics and international trade matters. Charlene has acted for Protection & Indemnity Clubs, shipowners, ship agents, ship brokers and freight forwarders in collision claims, cargo claims and charterparty disputes amongst others. She has also advised creditors in insolvency and restructuring proceedings.
Kevin handles a broad range of commercial disputes in the Singapore courts and in international arbitrations across a variety of sectors, including commodities and energy. He acts in a variety of disputes, including joint venture, oil and gas, shipping, shareholder, investor against state, fraud, and employment matters with particular expertise in cross-border disputes.
Kevin graduated with First Class Honours from King’s College London, where he was awarded the Law School Prize for Jurisprudence and the Linklaters Prize for Administrative law. Prior to entering private practice, he served as a Justices’ Law Clerk, an Assistant Registrar of the Supreme Court, and a Deputy Senior State Counsel in the Attorney-General’s Chambers.
Kevin has been featured in the Singapore Business Review’s list of the most influential lawyers aged 40 and under. He is recommended for his disputes expertise in major legal publications. Kevin is the vice-chair of the International Chamber of Commerce’s Singapore Arbitration Group, a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and is an arbitrator with institutions including the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, and the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre.
Kevin was also an adjunct tutor for Equity and Trusts and a teaching fellow for Company Law at the National University of Singapore. He teaches Civil Procedure at Part B of the Singapore Bar Course. He is also an accredited mediator with the Singapore Mediation Centre and a specialist mediator with the Singapore International Mediation Centre.
Karnan specialises in international arbitration and multi-jurisdictional disputes in the commodities, shipping and marine insurance sectors. Having worked in Asia for over 20 years, he has extensive practical experience handling matters involving jurisdictions across the region. He also speaks and reads Malay and Bahasa Indonesia.
His clients include trading houses, vessel owners / charterers, offshore energy contractors, P&I Clubs and marine insurers.
Karnan regularly represents clients in international arbitrations in London, Singapore and Hong Kong and also appears as Counsel in Singapore Court proceedings.
He is a member of the Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitrators Procedure Committee and was appointed by the Singapore Academy of Law in January 2020 as a Senior Accredited Specialist in Maritime and Shipping Law in recognition of his extensive expertise and experience in maritime and shipping law. Karnan is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and is on the SCMA Panel of Arbitrators and the SIAC Reserve Panel of Arbitrators.
His main area of focus is on litigation and advisory work relating to the motor and general insurance sector in Singapore, the motor industry trade including drafting and advising on vehicle warranties, sales and purchase agreements, bidding agreements, sales of goods advisory and litigation work, consumer rights in relation to sales of goods, contractual disputes, employment disputes, claims for commissions disputes, claims for defective goods disputes, claims for defective workmanship disputes, motorcar warranty claims and disputes.
Patrick’s practice has covered litigation and advisory work relating to insurance and reinsurance matters and claims that encompass motor insurance namely traffic accidents, defendant personal injury, policy coverage and disputes general and professional negligence, industrial accidents, road, occupier’s liability, public liability, fire and water damage claims, plant and equipment claims, insurance fraud, restitution claims and subrogation recovery.
